The only effect this worm seems to be having on most people is that their machines are getting rebooted. As for me, I couldn’t connect to the internet at all between Tuesday morning and this afternoon. That despite being immune to the worm’s direct effects (go Linux).
My ISP was being flooded by any infected machines that connected, resulting in disconnections or busy lines for all other users. It was only less than 6 hours ago that I finally managed to read mail and do some work.
Right now, I’m running a small tool to see if I get any attempts to infect my machine and can already see a few from other users of my ISP. Guess they are blocking connections from outside, but it hasn’t stopped some people from spreading it.
